Overture listings gone off Yahoo

I've been away for a few day and have returned to find all my listings have disappeared off Yahoo - every single one - even when I was the only bidder on the term - can someone advise if there have been any changes as I don't expect to hear back from Overture for at least 96-960 hours...

Mine have been fine in the UK. Why don't you call them?

Mainly because I'm in Cambodia and it will cost a fortune. I thought perhaps others had had the same problem.

Are the reports still showing impressions and clicks?

If you check on alltheweb and overture.com and you see your ads, those terms may have been removed from yahoo! due to some sort of filtering. I have only seen this in the Adult industry, but it may apply to yours as well.

Have checked in msn, overture and alltheweb and the adverts are there. Impressions have dropped by around 50% , so it seems Yahoo doesn't want my adverts any more.

It is not an adult site, rather an Asia related travel site for backpackers. Interestingly Yahoo has partnered with a competitor and is using their content for their travel content - this was where my adverts were appearing (aside from general search) and I was getting very healthy click-throughs there. Now they're all gone as have aderts from a couple of other travel content providers.

Strikes me that perhaps Yahoo may no longer taking adverts that run to close to their own content - disappointing if that was the case - but I certainly would have expected Yahoo/Overture to advise accordingly - so I could cancel my Overture accout ASAP...

Have contacted Overture (by email) and they advised the adverts are being displayed, however the stats don't bear this out, plus I can't see hem and friends in UK and Australia can't see them, so I feel they're not being straight with me.

Any thoughts anyone? don't suppose there's an "Overture_man" on this forum is there?

Did your funds run out possibly?

I dont think they'll take down advertisers that advertise content similar to their own. Considering the expansive portal that they have they would be ruling out a ton of business if they did this. If you can give them a call and ask them what's up, they'll respond immediately unlike email.

No, there's cash in there - I tried to call them last night but couldn't get through - will try again tonight if I don't hear back.

Well I am in India and I never saw any Overture listings on yahoo...I was under the impression taht they are doing country based ad serving. Only US IPs get to see the Overture Ads.

Any feedback?

I think that is true shaadi. From the UK on Yahoo.com I can only see Overture UK ads. On MSN.com I can see the Overture USA ads.

All all i've done the last month or so is move back and forward between thailand and cambodia - in both cases I could see the overture adverts on yahoo.com - i guess pegged as a general asia based IP - I don't think there's many overture ads targetting Cabodian IPs LOL... but then a few days ok they disappeared as I mentioned above - along with the 50% drop in impressions.

weird and as yet, no clarification from Overture - plus can see them on msn, alltheweb and all those garbage generic serch engines they end up on - this is only happening on Yahoo.

I just wanted to add that I cannot see ANY ads on Yahoo - our ads are gone and I am not seeing any other sponsored results. Our ads are showing up correctly on MSN, CNN etc. so this is just weird.

I should add that we are in the U.S. If this is related to geo-targeting, it makes me even less interested in banking on good results from these types of programs.

Any updates from others?

Overture came back to me and said it was due to geo targeting (I'm in Cambodia - probably not a big request among advertisers) and so according to them I would never have been able to see the the adverts.

When I explained I had seen them over and over again inside the Yahoo travel section, they said my ISP must have temporarily changed to a US based ISP, which, it absolute, utter and total trash.

I gave up at that point - I'll keep using Overture as I need my adverts on msn and yahoo, but as soon as a different option arises I will cancel my account - am already getting a far superior set of results from Adwords...

Another update, I did some searching and found my overture adverts displaying within the Yahoo travel section and on CNN, but nothing within the Yahoo SERPS. When I sent them urls asking for a clarification about this, they said that if a user (not in north america) is searching on the main yahoo site, they MAY see SOME adverts, yet in the previous email they had stated that they do not show ANY listings on a user's machine that is not situated in North America. Maybe if I email them again I'll get a reply saying that ALL my adverts can be seen by everyone, everywhere ;-)

They suggested I sign up for another market...umm let me think about that...no thanks.

Their duplicity isn't exactly confidence building - esp after reading the post about their charges being out of whack...

I'll add that all of a sudden I'm seeing ads again - not sure what is going on but I'm losing confidence...
