To every out there creating massive bid gaps stop. Seriously when there are 15 people bidding on a specific terms and the current first place bid is $5.77 something is wrong. Seriously if everyone got smart we could take control over the escalating bid prices. Wise up all; it's your money you are wasting too.

My 2 cents

I know I am dreaming but people are such fools. It's the bidding tools that create these messes'; I'm my opinion they are not worth the added cost.

Get a solid campaign up with good creative, targeted landing pages, get something to maintain reasonable ranks, and just let it run. Lower positioning and better creative works better on AdWords than OV. 5th spot is kinda sweet on OV if the top-3 are out of sight.

Funnily enough, if I have the #1 spot I usually reduce my bid.

I kinda reverse bid, if you get my meaning..

boston - I know there are some crazy bidders around. What you should concentrate on is the ROI. Unfortunately you may miss out on a lot of clicks due to a lower position, but that is just the way it is...

LMAO! Shak is totally correct :(

I have a client who pays $9.40 per click for their own trademarked search term. It is totally insane! A top 10 Internet player pours money into an unsophisticated solution!

Google and Yahoo must be laughing their socks off at the revenue generated from totally stupid bids that achieve high CTR's.

Trademarked terms with competitive and ridiculously high bids are being paid for. Google and Yahoo are laughing all the way to the bank!

The West is again wild, and this time the almightily dollar is the weapon of choice.....total folly, but it will takes years to convince the perps!

sem4u, thanks for the post. I am generating a nice profit and have been doing cpc management for clients for 2+ years; just passing along the advice that people need to be smarter about causing bid gaps that are totally unavoidable.
