Something strange about latest Over UK e-mail

Wants us to download either a macro or zip file.

Just received an e-mail from Over UK that supposedly lists additional keywords for the summer holiday season.

The e-mail return address shows clientservices@uk.overture.com however the e-mail originates from pandora.europe.search.corpsys.p4pnet.net and the gif's are hosted on "http://hosting.profero.com/overture/27052004/spacer.gif".

They warn that there is a macro if you want to view it in your browser and on entering the site they want to download a file. The other option is to download a zip file.

In these days of trojans, worms, viruses and spoofed addresses this is not a very good way to present something if this is in fact a real e-mail from Over. In any event I've deleted it without downloading anything.

Am I being too paranoid?

No, you are not paranoid! I do this myself, I think it's because I am a webmaster and I see things in all new way than what I once did.

Profero is the agency chosen by Overture for their UK marketing I believe, however most people would not be aware of that.

Thanks for the comments.

The more I think about it the more I'm sure that I would never follow these kind of e-mail instructions.

I'll never know what wonderful new key words these folks have dug up for us.

I know.

Nothing in there you wouldn't already know. Reason they zip it up is that with macros enabled and it being an excel file it wouldn't get past most corporate firewalls, spam filters.

The reason for the macros is to enable it to calculate the forecasted figures, budget spend etc.
