Why does Overture try to make us look like illiterates to our potential customers?

Okay this is a bit strong, but then again I don't like to think I'm going to lose customers because they think that my sites main word is spelt incorrectly.

Overture bid terms combine two spellings of the same word which are both used here in the UK. However the two spellings are different enough that someone who uses one may think that someone who uses the other is ill educated. This may well lead to customers leaving the site (and thus not buying from me - which is the primary aim of the PPC campaign)

It would seem reasonable that they should allow people to bid on both spellings with different titles and decriptions which use a matching spelling to that of the keyword.

I publicly suggested at the Boston pubcon that they should add a comments box in the add/edit listings screen so we can explain to the editors our industry jargon, terms, and spellings that they may not know about- and save us all a lot of grief.

So far, no action. I still dislike having to get on the phone to explain things to them. But that's life, I guess.

It's a good point Ian.

The one that gets me is that Overture say you need to have the keyword in the title and/or description. IN cases where you find a mispelling that hasn't been Match Driven, if you mispell the title or description, inspite of the fact you are appealing directly to the thought process of the poor speller (and nobody but the people mispelling the word will see it), the listings get declined for mispellings in the Title/Description...

Go figure.

It bugs me that they say that I haven't got the keyord in the title and description despite the fact that I have a plural of the word in the title.

(but not as much as the different spellings)
