For years I have been optimising web pages then testing them with inktomi and now it's gone! The few dollars it cost was a great investment when you consider that within 48 hopurs I would know just how those pages were going to perform in Google and elswhere. What is going to happen to MSN now I wonder? Go to their "add url" and it still points to inktomi!

Can't you just use site match?

I don't think there will be any dramatic changes regarding MSN's use of Ink.

What would MSN's alternatives be? buy AJ, use G, use their own system which has been under developement for a while with rumours of a release soon - na unless there planning to buy out AJ, G or Yahoo, i can't see any immediate changes to them using Ink and Overture.

You can't use overture anymore! Try it.

But there is no longer a facility to add your pages within 48hrs through overture. that's my point.

Adapting to changes quickly is what this game is all about.

You'll have to get used to that.

The problem with site match is that it cost $49 per url per year, and either $0.15 or $0.30 per click. They also want a $50 deposit.

Now, let's say my client, or me, is prepared for that but then decided to cancel. Would they ever pick up the site in the future in their normal crawl?

If you're wanting to test performance of new pages, why not use Gigablast [gigablast.com]?

Matt's search engine has a pretty damned good algo and a near instant 'add url' feature that means you can add new pages, test, tweak and test again to your heart's content!

You might even find that, like quite a few people, it ends up becoming your default engine!:)

Sorry, I thought you were testing optimization of webpages.

Ie: by changing the web page seeing how well it does in the search engines and then using that knowledge for optimizing for Google.

I personally plan to leverage SiteMatch to help me get higher rankings by using the daily crawl to determine what I need to do in order to get high up into the rankings.

And before anyone says that you need lots of backlinks .. there are millions of keywords where the number one entry has zero backlinks.

Yes. Please read the Yahoo! Answers Readers Questions thread. Lots of good information there.
