Negotiable bid rates in OV?

Apologies up front if this has been addressed. Very new to the board, and I haven't run across this topic yet.

In doing some shopping for the most effective way to get PPC rolling, I was told by a PPC management company that they could negotiate better bid rates with Overture than I could get on my own.

I don't mean to suggest this isn't the case, I just haven't heard of this before or seen it discussed. Can anyone shed any light on this? (and if there is an existing thread on this, just point me in the right direction)

Thanks all!

No, they have to play by the same bidding rules as everyone else, but if they're good at what they do they should be able to lower your average cpc through better management.

That makes sense.

The idea of that kind of set off some warning bells for me.

Good to hear that OV is keeping the playing field somewhat level in that respect.

I wouldn't say with 100% certainty that everyone is on the same playing field when it comes to pricing.

they could negotiate better bid rates

Sounds like someone using the wrong word. It's routine for professionals to achieve far more cost-effective results than for amatuers. The verb "negotiate" isn't appropriate for this, but the net effect is similar.

Everyone's bidding equally, but the technology and know-how some companies have really sets them apart. Most SEM advertisers are in the stone age and they don't even know it.

Interesting. Care to elaborate on the tools that might make a difference?
