Overture relinquishes GoTo.com domain name

Just a couple of weeks back, when you type in [goto.com,...] it used to take you to a special page that said "GoTo.com is now Overture Services. If you were looking for Go2.com, click here"

or something like that.

Now GoTo.com takes the visitor to a special Go2 Directory Systems page.

When Overture switched names from goto, it was all very sudden, and came out of nowhere...

I had always wondered if go2 had legally gone after the domain.. They own a few patents for providing Yellow Pages type info to mobile networks, so they aren't exactly "small fry"..

Maybe part of the "work out", was that Go2 didn't announce anything publicly that would harm Overture's PR?

We'll probably never know the whole background on what really occured..

What is really strange is GoTo.com has a google search box on it right now.
