Odd search term showing up in reports

New Term

My Search Term Summary report is showing quite a few clicks on the search term "New Term." When I drill down into the report, I get "No matching data was found."

I've sent a support request, but I'm just wondering if anybody else has seen anything like this before?

We are also seeing clicks for this. Could it be something to do with their word matching?

We've only had a few clicks from this so haven't taken the time to follow up on it and their reporting is down again (or was earlier this morning). What an outfit!

I have no idea what it is. None of our terms have either "New" or "Term" in them. The reports are functioning now which is how I discovered we've accumulated close to $50.00 in charges on this bogus term (in the last three days).

We are in the same boat as you on this one. The interesting thing about it is that we are seeing no impressions listed, only clicks.

We have not added any terms in over a month so this should be some sort of glitch.

I am going to drop a line on them to see what they say. If you get an answer on this, can you let us know what gives?

Just got off the phone with Overture, apparently the clicks are real and they do belong to a term. When they released their phrase matching, it introduced some bugs.

Their response to my inquiry is that "New Term" should be replaced with a newly added search term and should display correctly in the next 24 - 48 hours.

Funny thing is though, I haven't added any new terms for the last couple of months. Something fishy is goin' on.

Adter waiting most of the day to get Monday's report we see a bunch more "new term" charges.

We have written them an e-mail asking for an explanation and as well have voiced our dissatisfaction with the whole mess in the Client Center - the slowness, the late reports, the illogical link paths through the site with no thinking about what to default to and the ridiculous bouncing around of our search terms from 3rd place to 11th place as they present us for who knows what search terms with their "word match".

Yah, I got another stupid email from them assuring me the "New Term" phrases are actual clicks. My boss went nuts when I forwarded him the reply asking me "what in the h*ll does that mean"?

Finally, I happened to click on a report "Account Daily Summary" where the first terms listed are "New Term" and you can see the CPC and position and kind of figure out what people clicked on. This is insane.

So of course, the next question from him was "how do we know the results haven't been tracked twice"? I don't have an answer, other than to trust OV.

I wish they'd get their act together!

One other thing.

The way "New Term" displays and their lame replies led me to believe it was a new term we put up (even though we haven't done that since July). After I discovered that other report, it finally hit me, the cpc was an average cpc and not focusing on one term. Don't you think they could of told me that in their correspondence?

>Don't you think they could of told me that in their correspondence?<

Maybe they are so screwed up they don't know what they are.

Maybe now that the Yahoo deal is official that can turn their focus back to their product...

i'm confused. did we ever figure out what the "New Term" is? i'm showing $90 in 6 days to it in oct. however, i show it in sept, too. gives me impressions and clicks at a small cost of $2.50. **** is going on here? they make up this term and charge everyone w/ it they can get some serious $$$

Just received from Over UK with our Sept. results:

"We wanted to let you know that you may notice the phrase "New Term" appearing on
your invoice. This is due to a technical issue that is preventing our systems from
displaying certain search terms alongside their associated clicks. Please be assured
that the click charges you see are valid and you are not incurring any unnecessary
charges as a result. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

When does all this stuff become just not acceptable! I'll bet it has something to do with Word Match that they can't marry these oddball search terms to the one that it originated from. Every few days they have a new screwup.

that's bs... why don't they just say "ok, here are some more charges, we're not sure what they're for, we just know you're suppose to have them"

It looks like "new term" was gone as of Oct. 7th.

Is there still hope OV will get their act together?
