Overture's technology sure is terrible. Ever since the proposed merger with Yahoo, nothing works. Can we get a little help here Overture?

Overtures merger with Yahoo has NOTHING to do with it, it was the new system and technology that may have caused the problems, and even that is a 3rd party.

What sort of help are you looking from Overture here

They have major problems.

I've made probably 20 listing description changes in the last week. 14 of them were declined for totally bogus reasons. Each time I've had to call them and get it reversed. What a waste of time!

The reports are completely messed up!

I don't think they give a crap about click fraud!

I hate blindly spending thousands of dollars!

I really wish I could drop Overture and not look back. I have one client that insits on using them though.

I don't mean to 'bash' Overture but I need to vent.

vent as much as you like matey...

I stick to finding the cause and get results myself...

I am sure Overture who run a billion $ business will know by now that there are problems, and have no intention of wanting to upset anyone.

but saying their merger with Yahoo screwed things up is a misinformed opinion.

One thing that makes this work for me is that everyone is in the same situation.

As for the listings being declined, to say the reasons were bogus..... I don't buy that. There is always grey areas with editorial guidelines.

If you have a client that insists on using them, and you don't want to, I'll look after them. Sure the system has been screwy, but with bulk submissions, XML backdoor bid management the only thing that hasn't worked terribly well is the reporting.

If you manage through the backdoor you can see what is being spent, and using tracking tools you can see what is being clicked upon, combating the fraud issue that apparently doesn't get taken seriously, again I don't buy that at all. All first tier PPC's take fraud very seriously, but they don't publicise what they do or how they do it, or it would be easy for the perps to do it more.

The 3rd party in question assured Overture it would be able to cope with the new features, but clearly the scale has caught them out.

Oh really! You don't buy that! Well here's the conversation I had with them.

Me: Hello, I'd like to dispute a few declined listings.

O: Let's see here, they were declined for geo/localization target blah blah blah.

Me: Well, we're a multinational company.

O: Ok, let me take a look at your site......Yep, I'm not sure why they would have declined this. I'll make sure the restore them right away.

Now, that was less painful than I had expected but I had to call back six more times within the next three days for the same reason. And I think that is Bogus ;)

I would hope so but how can I be confident of this when everything else is screwed-up?

And as far as backdoor management; thanks, I'll have to look into that.
