Bid management softwares

Aren't you risking critical information?

By using these bid management softwares aren't we sharing our information with these companies who've developed the software?

Say, you have a listing for a keyword that gets you a great ROI and has no competitors. If they get hold of this they could turn into your competitors. An extreme scenario but you will agree, plausible.

Search engine submission software often connects to the server of the company to authenticate. This could work similarly in the background. Does anyone have any information on this? Any softwares that run purely client side, interacting only with the PPC engines?

I would worry about this scenario no more than I would worry about etrade telling me what stocks you bought and sold.

Let me put this this way. If you sell blue widgets and have bid on the keyword 'blue widgets sale'. You bid $0.10 on Overture and get 400 clicks a month, there are no other bids. How would you like your competitors to get this information.

I hope this puts it in perspective.

These chestnuts are pretty easy to find. Wordtracker, suggestion tools, sandbox etc..

The makers of the software are so unlikely to be remotely interested in this data, and the fact that there are so many of these keywords where the 10 cent bidders get all the traffic that if the makers did find it, they certainly aren't acting on it.

They are in the business of making software.

I would like to know if for some reason number 4 is getting more hits than number 1 or number 2.
