Greetings all:
What workarounds have others come up with to circumvent the loss of advertising for a pure-play business?

Recent changes in the PPC ad scheme have pressured most (however, not all... point of contention) advertisers of industries as Pharmaceuticals & Firearms out of the PPC realm. Although these are perfectly legal & highly regulated enterprises, many competing advertisers have been muscled out… even after paying several hundreds of thousands of dollars in successful campaigns.

My company was targeted for deletion only recently… even though other contract accounts like E-Bay are still permitted to advertise for the exact same product.

Several months ago, we started along the path of listing in DMOZ and Yahoo! Directory listings. We have made donations to organizations that will post a link. We cross link our sites. In essence, the A-Z listing posted by Brett several months ago has been followed… however results are months away.

In the mean time, the shining Billboard on the side of the highway that is the pimary means of advertising for this and many other pure play e-tailer/distributer has been whitewashed by G. & O. Our business and its couple dozen employees have their jobs at stake.

Other marketing campaigns are also underway in traditional print ads; however, that is no solution for the present and is not the best tool for success. PPC advertising facilitates immediate results. People searched specific words, and were able to immediately click into their request and buy. Traditional print ads require people actually having PRINT ADS, a computer, and type in the URL. As anyone in marketing knows, that is not the best way to have people directed. It requires too many steps for the end consumer.

Tips? Termination? or prayer?

Many thanks,
TGSCOM

You could go the toll-free, television commercial route. Find a media buyer who knows how to negotiate late night "spots".
