On overture, if you have more than one account for the same folks, you can grandfather one account, and bid the other one.

Yahoo seems to vary on how many overture rankings they refer. So you have to actually search on yahoo for your terms to see whether they list 2, 3, or 4 overture listings.

On terms where it is not effective, such as when a few bigger corps bid on the term, they just have more money to "waste". And if your profit margin is thin... you can't play with them.

Sometimes I will outbid them for a day or two and then drop down low again

Searching on yahoo,you look for terms where not many overture listings show up, and try them.
