I accidentally found something interesting about OV kwd suggestion tool. It all started with my copywriter and I trying to decide on a new domain name that would closely resemble one of the most-searched keywords for widgets. "widgets.com" was taken, and from my google statistics I knew that "widgets help" was the second most requent search phrase, so my suggestion was "widgets-help.com". Well, my copywriter looked up OV kwd suggestions for "widgets", and the most frequent phrase was "help with widgets". This was really puzzling because in google campaign I have both "widgets help" and "help with widgets" where "widgets help" gets lots of clicks and "help with widgets" almost none. I then wanted to check my OV campaign for the same 2 terms and realized that I don't even have "widgets help" as a search phrase (again puzzling, because I was sure that I did put it in). So, I added it again and OV automatically changed my original "widgets help" into "help with widgets" phrase!. Then I realized that both keyword phrases map to "help with widgets" and that is why the OV count was so high.
So the moral - one has to be careful when applying OV results to other PPCs

That sounds like a search difference. Google frequently takes out common words like a, with & and. Some of their partners do not, though. So most of the traffic you see will not have common words but a small portion will.

OV on the other hand, does not and actually maps to the phrase with the common word.

You may want to be careful judging the traffic from G, though. If you are using broad match, widgets help will be showing for "help on widgets", "help about widgets", "who can help me with widgets", "help, I need some widgets" and so on. The numbers could be skewd there as well.

Point well taken. However G results correlate well with the results that I am getting from the web site statistics

The Over keyword sugestion tool is great for picking out those negative keywords you want to apply in AdWords. The AdWords suggestion tool is very poor for our range of keywords.
