Overture and "Amazon.com - The Whatever Source"

Anyone noticing they're now at Yahoo!

I've been tolerating Amazon's $.15 Overture bids for various popular search terms for the last 4 to 6 months (not really sure when they first showed up) since they were NOT being shown at Yahoo!

Well, looks like they arrived at Yahoo! sometime this week.

Amazon, I suppose, has a "right" to bid here but some of their key word tie-ins for product have been pretty amazing. What I mean to say is the RELEVANCE issue is once again being "skirted" by Overture because of a deal with a large client, amazon.com. If all consumers see is Amazon.com ads for product that really does not tie to the search, they will, again, not trust these "sponsor matches" at Yahoo! then we all lose. Basically, large vendors like amazon.com can really hurt Overture relevance.

I have heard all the other complaints about Overture these past few months: bids to $.10, auto-bid problems, possible "Gator" deal. But THIS issue of RELEVANCE is the most important to me. If I see more large vendors like amazon move in on a blanket buy of key words then I am NOW ready to take my money elsewhere.

And you all know where that is....

QUESTION: Has anyone else been bothered by them and has anyone complained to Overture about them and received a response? I find many of them to be quite a "stretch" for key word relevance in my clients' subject areas.

Thanks in advance for your response!

I've been bothered by them, but curiously, conveniently, Amazon dropped their advertising for some of our most important terms. Yeah, Amazon's foolishness is no different than the silliness you see on FindWhat & Kanoodle for a penny a click.
