My question is basically about bidding outside the top five of overture. Is there quality traffic on the lower listings, and how far down the line can you go.

The area that I am bidding is quite competitive, and the top few positions on many of the terms are insane. I have also put in for a few less competitive terms, but I just wanted to get some feedback as what I can expect for the lower listings. Thank you in advance.

You will still get traffic and for most clients you'll get good conversions at positions below 5. The main thing you lose is click volume.

You can make up for it by staying targeted and going broad (lots of keywords).

You can still get clicks through Yahoo (the second page of results lists positions 6 & 7 at least I think).

You can also get traffic from meta searchengines such as Excite and Dogpile.
