Overture results on MSN

different results depending on where you search

Hello,

Has anyone ever noticed when you search on msn.com you pull different results than when you click on the Search button of IE and choose to search only MSN?

I found that most of our Overture keywords do not show up on searches done the first way, even though we are ranking #1 but do show up when you search the second way. Why do Overture results only "sometimes" appear when searching on msn.com? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how high the overture bids are. For low cost overture terms, Looksmart's results are more profitable for MSN so they won't show overture listings...

Say for example you type <snip> at MSN.com - no Overture results appear as sponsored listings. If you go to the search button and type the same keywords in an MSN search 2 sponsored site listings appear.

Wheras if you type <snip> in MSN.com you get featured listings, and then the same 3 sponsored listings that you get when you type it on the left screen search.

What's going on with MSN?

How about doing a search for any keywords such as pear.

I do know of some keywords that do not bring up any Looksmart listings at all. Only Sponsored listings on the left screen search and then Inktomi results.
