What is the general consensus on what can be deemed a popular term by looking at Goto's suggestion tool. I used to give Goto credit for about 5% of searches and would multiply suggestion tool numbers by 20 to get a general number of searches per month across the net. How would you say that number has changed now?

I think we need to wait until the beginning of the year to see some new stats. With the addition of AOL and other major portals the formula will change. We just don't know how much.

>about 5% of searches

That might be in the right ball park for North America, but on a global basis you would have to multiply by 60 at least. (For an English keyword.)

Is anyone tracking the numbers over time? Comparing search numbers from a few months ago to now?

I just wonder how accurate the suggestion tool is going to be now that Goto is everywhere? Seems like some inaccuracies and serious overlooks are going to work their way into the system.
