Original thread [webmasterworld.com] in Google News

article [news.zdnet.com]
Lee had been working most recently at Microsoft's Redmond, Wash., headquarters, focusing on new search technologies. According to the lawsuit, for a time Lee had been the person "responsible for overall development of the MSN Internet search application." He also served as a member of a company advisory board that focused on China-related strategies, a post that, according to the suit, gave him access to the company's business strategy and planned expansion targets.

It seems that there has been a big defection from MS to Google that could affect their China market plans. While the other thread seems to be focusing on the legality of a non-compete agreement, I'd be interested to see if we could talk about some of the implications for the China market here.

It seems that Dr. Kai-Fu Lee was in China this week [english.people.com.cn]; his first time as Google China President, according to the article.

A lot of momentum has been taken out of Microsoft's initial claims that Dr. Lee had access to proprietary search technology. That doesn't appear to be the case now.
