Monkia - new Taiwanese Portal

Reported in the Taipei Times [taipeitimes.com], a new Chinese-language protal has been launched "hoping to grab a slice in the crowded multibillion-dollar search engine sector," featuring a public-welfare service along with a search engine.

It was founded by Sun Wu, the developer of the Global Area Information Servers (GAIS) technology which is used in the Openfind Project.

It's a nice clean layout and the SERPs are at least interesting to look at. They run a set of seemingly related images on the right hand side of the page. I can't attest to the quality of the SERPs as they don't seem to have my sites prominently listed. ;) It seems that Taiwan based sites are listed toward the top of the SERPs.
