article [dmnews.com]
Google expanded its AdWords paid search advertising platform into Korean, the 16th language for the program, the company said last week.

It's been possible to run AdWords in Korean for quite some time now, but I think this is the introduction of their Korean interface for the system.

word. :p

too bad goog is not that big a deal in ROK (number 6ish? in terms of search) and doesn't really have extensive distribution (even with hanmir)... at least not yet.

That's not to underestimate the big g since they haven't focused on this market much ;-)...and there have been a growing number of rumblings of more significant moves from the G camp.

well, its definitely heating up around here. :)

I saw google.co.kr's traffic decreasing according to Alexa.com for the past 12 months or so. As Gren said in another post, Koreans like bells and whistles, I think. So google.co.kr's interface will be very boring to them.

Im still wondering, though, whether G will have the same eventual success it saw in other markets as the "alternative" to the busy and increasingly fancified and commercial search sites you see here.

Time will tell, but other than that... I just don't think its a big concern/priority for them to be THE Korean "destination search site" (not that they'd mind).
