Seeking to tap a thriving Internet business in China, Google will offer its advertising-bidding system in the country's native language.

On Wednesday, the search company will open its advertising service, called AdWords, in two dialects of Chinese: simplified and traditional.

Good Catch Marcia.

I will be interested in hearing the opinions of others actively marketing into China about this.

We all know the country has both Huge Potential and Huge Bariers to overcome, I am wondering whether this will open up the country to the outside world a bit more. Regardless there is a mountain of internal business just waiting to be carved up, Google will do well out of this.

How does China's e-commerce industry compare to other countries in the region like S. Korea, Japan or Singapore? Do lots of Chinese buy online?

I hear software/DVD/CD piracy is quite high over there.

I had always wondered when they would get around to this. The PPC market in China is not small, but I don't have any exact figures to share. I know that internet access there is growing dramatically of late. This is great news though. Thanks Marcia!

This is great news. We now pull Adsense revenues in small numbers out of Japan and Southeast Asia but we have around 100000 pages with GB and Big5 content.

Chinese don't buy that much online at this time and we seldom process creditcard transactions for users from the PRC but revenues from Chinese speaking users outside the PRC is around 15% of global revenues.
