How to develop a website in language other than English?

Specifically, Gujrati, an Indian language.

Hi again,
Its great....
I have downloaded the WEFT 3 application. from following URL

[groups.msn.com...]

And it successfully gave me .eot file of Saumil_gu2 font.

Now on my PC its working fine although i didn't install
Saumil_guj2 font in my Control Panel.

Now how to get .pfr file of this font?

Waiting...
Thanks for showing me right direction...

The following says "Navi Dilhi, ta. 21" (New Delhi, date 21) in Gujarati, from sandesh.com but on WW it shows as gibberish.
{É´ÉÒ÷ Êqö±¾Òú÷, lÉÉ. 21
. It is readable if pasted in Word (and if you have the font).

I didn't have the font installed at first, but loading it made no difference - I could still read the site. I think I am seeing the font that is called from weblipi.js which is /weblipi/sandesh0.pfr -- which confirms the discussion about dynamic fonts.

Perhaps Shweta needs to contact the Bitstream person at www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3073.html to find out how to make .pfr files.
The character spacing is lousy for certain combinations, e.g. a dot that needs to be above a consonant appears in mid air after it, leaving a gap in the middle of a word. Perhaps another font has a better spacing definition.

Hi,
Bitstream has send following mail :

[Woz's Paraphrase]

WebFont Maker and WebFont Wizard no longer available.
The problem is that Browsers change standards too often.
However, fonts can me custom made for a fee.
Please lobby the Browser Manufacturers to standardize Dynamic Font Support.

[/Woz's Paraphrase]

[Shweta also thinks that x$ for] one TrueType font is too high.

what do u think regarding this mail?

Waiting
Thanks

Hi Shewta,
First of all .. its against TOS of webmasterworld to post email excerpts. #9 TOS [webmasterworld.com]

So you may edit your post and paraphrase what they said instead.

Regarding your problem of dynamic fonts, from as the things stand now, you have to compromise somewhere.

Given that more than 90% users use internet explorer .. you can go for EOT fonts using WEFT and for the remaining 10% you can give a link for true type font download with installation instructions.

Hi,
Sorry for breaking ur rules.
Now i have decided to use only eot files for embedding.
And for remaining 10% i'll give a link for true type font download with installation instructions.

I think this the best way to use.

Thanks a lot..
