Just noticed that to get your copy text to bold in the copy when its the same as the user search term- place a space between it.
eg. you want the keyword widget to bold
-from- blackwidget10,000yen -to- black widget 10,000yen.

Dont know if this will help CTR, but figure its worth a try!

That's an interesting tip David. Thanks.

Do you notice a lot of Japanese advertisers using this trick? Doesn't the text look a bit awkward with the spaces?

I've noticed only a few sites using it. It does look a little strange-but the bolded characters take up a touch more space and even it out a little. If you have space in the title, it looks better.

I just tried it in the body, and haven't seen any difference in CTR.

We will see if it gives an edge with ads higher up.

Thanks for the tip.

Adwords on Yahoo Japan are bolding correctly without using the spacing trick.

There hasn't been any change in my CTR since getting adwords to bold in google.

Anyone else?
