English is fine, but not Japanese

There does not appear to be any option on google.co.jp for creating a site search service like there is for Google.com.

I set up the Free Site search using the system for Google.com, but this does not accept Japanese language search even though Google.com can.

I have tried the site search in Frontpage but that is almost useless and there does not seem to be one in Dreamweaver (please tell me if I am wrong). Has anyone else come across a site search that is relatively low cost and works with Japanese?

I am not particularly keen to use Google site search as it will show ads for my competitors.

You can use Atomz for free for sites under 500 pages. They support Japanese, Chinese and Korean, but you'll have to do a bit of extra work to get it to index PDF, SWF and MS Office files properly. (Normally this involves setting the proper encoding somewhere in the Atomz system.) The interface for setting up your account and managing your searches is in English.

Thanks again Bill.

Have you seen a pick up in MSN Japan traffic in the last few days? I have not been able to tie this one down.

Generally the overall search activity seems to be up for Australian information from Japan, but there seemed to be a spike on MSN. I think the general increase is a seasonal thing.
