Hello, we want to adapt our english website to japanese

We are currently translating it but what's next?

What can be the difficulties and how to avoid them?

We got SQL database and we want to do some SEO on japanese search engines...

Is there anyone who got the same experience?

Thanks a lot

Hi YopiYop, Welcome to WebmasterWorld,

I am sure some of our members who are promoting in Japan will come along with some excellent current informaiton for you. In the meantime, there are quite a few threads on Promoting in Japan [searchengineworld.com] in this forum that should give you some good background.

Hope that helps

Welcome to WebmasterWorld yopiyop.

It sounds like you're starting out in the right direction. Make sure you get everything translated correctly, and then resources permitting see if you can get a native copywriter to fine tune your translated material. Having something translated into Japanese doesn't mean that it will be appealing in Japanese. It's the same with most any language, but with Asian languages you really need to keep in mind the different cultural aspects and work that into your text. Things that sound great in English and may have been flawlessly translated may still not work with your target audience. Just remember that having your work translated may not be enough.

Like Woz suggested, take a look through the past threads we've had. There's a lot of good stuff in there.
