Indian Search Engines

I have worked on google for long and I find it the best engine. I have tried alta vista and other but they just have the results that are already in google and google have many many more of them.. DO you suggest to search in other engines besides googles also I particularly search for tech questions compture related.. Can you identify any good serach engine for INdian search only?

Make sure you have the "India sites only" option selected.

check out khoj and rediff.

If you add India to your query in Google Search you'll get some good results.

Just registered here. I have been reading on this forum for quite some time now.

Regarding Indian Search engines:

1) Among the major portals, only Yahoo & MSN provide regional search, which is really of some use.

Most of the so called Indian Search Engines are dying out due to no income/no business model as such.

Do u know of a still functional India specific directory which still works/updates regularly?

Hi India_Max,

You are quite right. Most of the India Search Engines are dying. They are not adding any new websites in their database. I hv submitted my sites abt 2 months back in khoj, 123india etc. but no luck.

If anybody knows any of India specific directory which still works/updates regularly please post the name of the same here. Doing that would be gr8 help.
