Keyword Research for Australia

Where to go to research keywords for Australia market

I am looking for some suggestions as to what tool to use to determine keyword searches for an Australian bed and breakfast.

I use Wordtracker -- but do not see any search data for the key terms I would like to target. I am not sure if Wordtracker compiles data from the Australian search engines or not.

Where do you Australian SEO experts do your research at??

Thanks

Hi claudiasmt,

I am not aware of any Australian Search Engine that gives access to their Search Query Database. I tend to use the Overture and Wordtracker tools and then guesstimate for the Australian audience.

There only Aussie engine that has a Search Spy is Black Stump [209.164.121.182]. This may help a little.

The real problem with the Australian market is that so many Australian's use the global search engines, such as www.google.com, that you cannot rely on the small Australian only search engines to give you a useful guide.

I absolutely agree skip. I rarely use an Aussie engine and then it is probably Anzwers and hence Google data anyway.

But at least we have a couple of data sources.

Do ya reckon Overture incorporate data from searches done at ninemsn.com.au? *shrug* Ninemsn still got a decent slice of the SE cake in Aus don't they?

Thinking further about what you are actually marketing, a B&B in Australia.

This is something we do all the time, but we market the Australian B&Bs to the Japanese market.

Unless there is something really special and I mean really special about the B&B I would work on the geographic location and accommodation concept. Think about main attractions(Blue Mountains, Great Ocean Road), town/city/region names and then match this with accommodation/B&B terms. I don't know that you will get much help from the global search tools on this sort of thing as it very regionally specific.

Also think about who or which groups you are targeting and the terms they may know.
