Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good source on the web for optimisation tips for WebWombat and Answerz in Australia. I know Google now powers Answerz, but I'm wondering if there are optimisation strategies beyond what one would use for Google. Also looking for WebWombat strategies and tips of any kind. Any advice or links would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi danlar, and Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

You are correct in saying that Anzwers uses google as its source, and it also give major preference to local domain, ie., .com.au So using good google optimisation practices with a local domain should fare you well. You might want to have a good read of the Google Forum for pointers, and also the Google Knowledge Base [webmasterworld.com].

WebWombat also gives preference to local domains which are indexed for free although it will also list generic domains if cash is seen to be changing hands.

From my research it seems they index Title, Description and Page Content and give them preference in that order. I am not sure about whether they use the keyword tag or not at all but in the test listings I had a look at the top 10 listings did not even have a keyword tag in their code. I would suggest that it is not that important, although I would also suggest putting it in just in case. Have a read through this thread [webmasterworld.com] for some more information on metatags.

Hope this helps
