PPC scenarios for Asia Pacific sites

Are PPC coming to regional Asian and Australian SE and directories?

Heini from the European section made this comment:

>The important places displaying PPC results are some of the huge local Lycos sites, soon to come some of the local Yahoos, and Altavista.

Does anyone know if PPC will be coming to local/regional sites such as Yahoo! Australia and NZ, and Alta Vista Australia?

I recently asked Nathan about downunder and he said "not yet" or words to that effect.

The only one I am aware of that may be of use is Lookle who do have a PPC system in place. Even though they are a global meta engine, I understand from talking to them that they do have a very high proportion of Australia searchers.

Might be worth a look, er, I mean Lookle....

Thanks,

I guess I'm just curious since Overture is becoming very powerful in terms of partnerships but don't seem to cover the regional areas.

As mentioned in other threads on this board, judging by the job listings on Overture's site it looks like they are planning on coming to Japan--but they've not yet posted anything that says "Australian language skills required". :¦

PPC is about to become MUCH harder for Australian companies who dont have an international presence.

Under the new Overture listing guidelines you now have to have the word "australia" or a major capital city in your keyword search term to qualify for relevancy. Because of this there are VERY VERY few search terms regionalised for Australia that have greater than 24 searches per month performed - so again these words are rejected.

Its getting tough :)

The company I work in has formal relationships with all the major engines. We currently recommend Inktomi PPC as the bulk of the traffic comes through NineMSN. We can crawl a site - strip out all html, reoptimise it against a keywords database (effectively creating highly optimised doorway pages), convert this into an XML feed, insert it directly into the Inktomi database - and wallah - instant traffic :)

Goto has no plans at all for coming into Australia. Regionalisation "might" remove the current tough regionalisation relevancy restrictions but that wont be for a year or so.

In 6 months or less when the editors have reviewed the current Goto search terms against their new relevancy guidlines I would guess that there will be VERY few Aussies left advertising in Overture.
