Sometime in the last 10 days AltaVista Australia has updated their regional index. Don't know if this has happened to other Regional AV indexes yet, but I'm very relieved to be back in the Australian ranks again having pretty much fallen off the index back in April just before the big *freeze* i.e. no local refreshes since.

Yep Cherryl is absolutely right.....sometime in the last 5 days AltaVista Australia has updated its regional listings. I'm glad as #1 for the sites most popular keyphrase is far better then #57 as it was before this update. :)

Cherryl and Merlyn,

are the results you are seeing restricted to .com.au only or does the new index also reflect on .com's? I have a .com I want in the index and although I have raised the matter, it is still not there so I am wondering about the extent of the reindex.

Mine is a .com.au so I can't say what's happening with .com's
I did notice however that the most recent of my submitted pages that were in the international index did not appear in the regional index which might indicate that the crawl for the regional index occurred before the latest international index update (if that makes sense). Woz, if what you're looking to find is recent stuff this might be a clue.

Woz,

The domain I was referring to is .au

I did a search for my most popular keywords and the top 20 were all .au sites so I think you'll have some difficulty getting your .com site in.

Anyway good luck!

I'm not even talking about position yet, I'm talking about inclusion. When I'm in, then I'll work for position.
