Hi Guys,

I'm not looking to poach staff from anyone or advertise a job. But I am looking to find out where to find some good PPC/SEO staff in Sydney.

The usual job boards just seem to return a very poor standard of candidates.

Thanks
Donal

I have had the same experience in Melbourne. Sometimes we have had to train them from scratch and sometimes there are 2-3 good candidates when we only need one. We use Seek, MyCareer and uni notice boards.

Haven't done any PPC recruiting but expect it to be harder.

Most of the positions advertised are totally unrealistic, do not offer enough money and usually the employer cannot assess whether a candidate would be right for the job anyway due to lack of seo knowledge themselves. This is why no real candidates are out there looking.

I have applied for a few decent looking positions and have been told I am either too experienced or they have no idea what they are really advertising for. I have given up looking and I know this would happen to most. I now do my own stuff and work p/t for a small firm in Brisbane.

I had a total classic recently, a large brand in Hotel Reservations could not employ me (as striclty SEO) (cos I asked for too much money - only 80K AUD) and they have a million dollar PPC budget and only one SEO staff overseeing almost 1 million pages of content - which should be ranking twice as well. They have advertised the position as a junior position now (good luck there). It's crazy - most Aussie businesses (no matter how web based) really do not know what an experienced seo could do for their business.

Good SEO's will be very hard to find in Aus as they are working for themselves, or someone else already. So you had better do some poaching ;)
