I was just reading up on the forum discussion on fonts - [webmasterworld.com...] and was wondering about Japanese fonts.

What are the standard fonts for Japanese installed by windows and mac?
Which do you use for your websites and why? What sizes?
Google: arial,sans-serif font-size:20px
Yahoo: sans-serif font-size:small

Looking at a clean install of Windows XP and Windows 2000, both Japanese, I see quite a few fonts. The default on both is MS Gothic (Gothic is in katakana). The next most common font seems to me MS Mincho (Mincho is in kanji). I'm not motivated enough to list all the rest. ;)

As I asked in this thread [webmasterworld.com], does anyone even bother to specify fonts on their Chinese, Japanese or Korean sites? I don't. I may alter font size in the CSS, but I haven't bothered with the font types. How does everybody else handle this?
