Adsense Optimisation for Chinese Content

It seems that it is difficult to optimize target ads

I have recently added Adsense to my site which is in Simplified Chinese language. I however found that the Ads are not targeted so well. Very often, Adsense can only serve just 1 to 3 Ads at most and they are quite irrelevant to the content. I have experimented it with adding some Enlish keywords inbetween the content, but it seems that it is not improving.

I wonder if other members do have the same problem with Adsense when dealing with Chinese content or they could have ways to improve it. If it is such non-optimised and technically we can't do anything, shall I consider other similar programs?

Also, what is the prospect of Adsense for Chinese content? Is it growing readily now or it just can't take off? I apprecipate very much if Chinese site webmasters could share their experience.

Hi

I have some Chinese (trad and simp) ads running, reasonably effectively (similar cost of conversion to my other English-based campaigns).

The ones that seem to work best for me are those with a (simp) Chinese headline, and all the rest of the text in English.

I cannot check for relevance because:

1) I cannot read Chinese (except by guessing from my scanty knowledge of Japanese Kanji!)

2) I don't visit Chinese-language Web sites!

This is called "whistling in the dark" I think... B^>

Hi DamonHD,

Do you mean that you are running Adwords compaign with which you applied it to both Trad and Simp Chinese websites and you found that it was as effective as your English counterpart when similar cost was spent? If my understanding is correct, congraluation and thank you for sharing your tips.

My previous question however concerns about how to optimize Chinese webpages in order to allow more relevant Ads to be appeared. This question has brothered me for a while now and I am still failing to find a good answer. Since you appears to receive good traffic from placing Chinese targeted Ads, do you know whether your clicks are actually from Chinese webpages? Will it be possible that most of your Ads are in fact from English-based websites?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Your understanding is correct: I have AdWords ads that I have have selected only to be shown in AsiaPac (including China + HK/TW/SG/...) to Chinese-language users (trad and simp).

I haven't checked where the ads are being placed, but I imagine that they must be at least in part on ZH sites.

But I should analyse my logs and check, you are right!

I live in Beijing China now, and am building a website soon that I registered through GoDaddy.I want to use this site as a profit generating platform through offering to sell information on different topics. Can you please give this greenhorn some startup advice.

Does any any of the following: Google, Yahoo, Sogou and Baidu have an adsense program for China?
It would be great if I could add this to my site and gets some click throughs...

But was not aware of chinese adsense or similar, any advise would be great.

Thanks.

If I am correct, they (Google, Yahoo, Sogou and Baidu) all have Adsense-like programs to run. In general, once you selected to join one, you are violating the T&Cs by placing Ads of the others. For example, if you have joined Google's Adsense, you are not allowed to place similar program's Ads on the same site/page. You may need to do some research before decided to adopt one of them.

Please let me know if I can add combination of Ads from Google, Yahoo, Sogou and/or Baidu.

Do you know which one pays better - percentage split.

I need to sign up and review them, did not realise they offered this service through the chinese engines until I read this forum.

It is really good news for my site.

<snip> Still some improvements to be made, the script was really difficult and took us 5 months to get right.

Will let you know what I find out as just been too busy with the development to worry about revenue.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows about how to find reliable web hosting in China, as I'm living in China now and have heard that Badiu gives preference to Chineses hosted websites.

Sunlight welcome to webmasterworld.

You'll get better responses to your questions if you post them in their own threads or keep to the topic of the thread. This thread is about Chinese AdSense so let's keep it limited to that. We've had few threads about hosting in China [google.com] that might help you out. Good to have you aboard!
