Is it a coincidence that in some parts 'Wiki' is slang for a Chinese person and may be offensive?

I saw an advert on tv (UK), it was for AOL internet trying to encourage more people to sign up, The advert was talking about the internet in general, It says at one point the internet is the only place in the world where there is truly freedom of speech... hmmm.
