Still curious about "knowledge search"?

Well, I've posted about it plenty...but FINALLY someone decided to just write an article about it in English. The part I found amusing was that he calls it a "new trend".

um...for who? (at least, loyal WebmasterWorld members will know better. =P)

For more info, search these forums ... I HAVE posted about it what..years ago now? (ya..that's me a beign a little smug. ^^)

clip:

a new trend in cyber space is the ``knowledge vending machine,ĄŻĄŻ an innovation in search-engine software thatprovides instant information and feedback to an individual userĄŻs queries.
This new trend comes from an adapted service of domestic Internet search engines, called ``knowledge search.ĄŻ
.....

A total of 12,749 new questions were updated on Naver, which started the service for the first time in October in 2002, on Saturday alone, while 16,929 new answers were posted on the same day.

note: that's a lot lower than it used to be. I actually think the "new trend" is a bit on the DECLINE from its heyday back a couple years. but hey...who am I to argue with reporters. ;)

anyway...thought some might find it interesting.

(there was a good article on how Yahoo Korea is failing big time in this market vs the korean local too...I'll post it if I can dig it up. ;))

lata!

Yes, but the article is on Naver. ;)
We know you've been the primary source of SE news in English from Korea for some time now. It would be nice if press outside Korea picked up on any of this.

That article is obviously written for an uninformed audience. It doesn't seem to be coming from a very knowledgeable source. Maybe knowledge search new for the author. ;) Thanks for keeping us ahead of the pack Grendel.

grrr.. I swear I replied to this. Grr! hate writing same stuff twice! :/ (or did I get the admin delete :( --eek sorrrry!)

hmm.ok. so I'll be brief (no really), just to clarify a point...

Yes, but the article is on Naver.

that article is actually from the Korea Times. I just linked in the Naver news aggregator (naver news search result). It says "from the Korea Times" in korean at the top of the article. Sorry for the confusion.

second, not as on top of things as I'd like to be, but a big thanks for the nod. ;) (and thnaks to WebmasterWorld for giving me a place to occasionally blah blah blah about the happenings out here). I know someday (maybe soon) people will start to take serious note of the search and internet tech happening here. ^^ In the meantime, I'll definitely do my best to keep everyone updated with the goings ons.

GK out. ^^
