Hey all,

Just read this on the Canadian Revenue website, regarding what you can claim as advertising expense:

"You can deduct expenses for advertising, including ads in Canadian newspapers and on Canadian television and radio stations. You can also include any amount you paid as a finder's fee."

And then at the bottom, this:
"You cannot deduct expenses for advertising directed mainly to a Canadian market when you advertise with a foreign broadcaster"

So adveritisng online, we can't write that off? I did last year, but if they audit me I wonder if I'd get nailed?

I wrote off all my adwords expenses and other similar stuff.

Any thoughts on this?

write it off - if it was for legitimate business purposes to make more money so that the Canadian governmnet can make you pay more taxes, why would they complain.

Many tax laws in many countries contradict themselves. It is a normal occurence in the bloated tax codes that most places end up with.

Besides, your chance of being audited is pretty low.
