Just read this on the Canadian Revenue website, regarding what you can claim as advertising expense:
"You can deduct expenses for advertising, including ads in Canadian newspapers and on Canadian television and radio stations. You can also include any amount you paid as a finder's fee."
And then at the bottom, this:
"You cannot deduct expenses for advertising directed mainly to a Canadian market when you advertise with a foreign broadcaster"
So adveritisng online, we can't write that off? I did last year, but if they audit me I wonder if I'd get nailed?
I wrote off all my adwords expenses and other similar stuff.
Any thoughts on this?
Many tax laws in many countries contradict themselves. It is a normal occurence in the bloated tax codes that most places end up with.
Besides, your chance of being audited is pretty low.
