What does Matt Cutts statement mean?

I don't get Matt Cutts TimeLine blog post.

My site gets pounded by Googlebot on a daily basis.

For the month of May mysite had 33,679 pageviews, 1,002 visits, 36,275 hits and 342 meg of bandwidth from Googlebot.

So why of the 1,100 pages I have on my site does Google index only 8 of the pages and the rest are Supplemental? The cache for the supplementment shows a date of August 2005.

If I am getting pounded by Googlebot am I on the "fringe of the crawl"?
