The New York Times carried a little squib over the weekend that asserted that 1% of all G traffic is sent to EBay. The article didn't specify if this was the result of organic search, PPC, or both. Link to article [nytimes.com].

I'm going to guess that this is both organic and PPC. Observations:

1. One out of 100 searches by end users end up at EBay. That's a heck of a lot, and may indicate that despite the hopes of G to be a repository for the world's information, commercial searches make up a lot of what search is actually used for.

2. Those omnipresent EBay ads for just about everything under the sun (even if they appear ridiculous to many webmasters) are apparently drawing a lot of traffic.
