Where's Googlebot?

Seen Googlebot/2.1 lately?

Seems as though googlebot is on holiday. Haven't seen it visiting any of my sites on a regular basis lately. Same for others?

No, Googlebot is still very active on my sites. On my most popular site it hit over 300 pages today alone. Even on my recently banned domain it is still sniffing a few pages here and there but not many.

I love Google Bot. However, mydomain.com's cache shows it was last retrieved on May 10, 2006 16:29:50 GMT. I get googlebot a lot, and he downloads a few megs at a time, I just dont know exactly what he's doing with them.

and

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1;+http://www.google.com/bot.html)

Understand the second newer bot may be taking over

Googlebot visits my home page on a more so regular basis but not so my other pages.

Until sometime around the end of April, i'd been seeing Googlebot/2.1 a few hundred times a day. Since then I'm lucky if I see it 10 to 20 times a day... and I never see Mozilla/5.0.

Coincidentally, the once prominent Google referals dropped to about nothing at the same time. Thank goodness my non-search engine traffic continues to rise.

He has been visiting me a lot lately, takes a few megs and does nothing with them.... As a matter of fact he was on my sites heavily the past two days and poof, I had pages disappear out of google.

I guess he must have been hungry and wanted to eat some good data and crap out a scraper or adsense site to the top of the serps and make my page disappear..... That is exactly what happened... Was number 3 for the page he ate in the serps, replaced by an adsense site today..... My page, no where to be found.... Guess googlebot has quite an appetite... He ate 60 of my pages and I lost 60 top ten serps today...

Sigh....
