Two of our sites hosted on a server that had some type of DNS problem last week with a few hours downtime have now dropped right off the top of the results pages. Could this server problem be the cause? These are both older established domains. Running a site: command shows all of the pages still there. If downtime is the cause what is the likely recovery time after such an event? Traffic has halved as a result.
