Run of Site Links - Delete or Keep?

I currently own 5 different health related web sites. Only 2 of them are on the same IP block.. I have linked between the various sites with footer tags pointing to the others. I have had these in place for between 1-2 years. I also have other incoming links to the sites. As a result, one site is #1 in MSN for a very popular "health related" term and another site is also #1 in MSN for another very popular "health related" term. So, I am happy about that, however, I'd like to improve my exposure in Google. I do come up for my name for all 5 sites in Google (except for my one yahoo store, which recently had myurl.com replaced with store.yahoo.com/myurl/)....

Anyway, I know I'm probably getting penalized to some extent because of the run of site links.... The question is whether I should remove them and just leave one link per domain pointing to the others. If I do that, it seems like I would lose my ranking in MSN, and I am not sure how much I would gain from Google... Another strategy is to leave them and just keep trying to get incoming links so the percentage of run of sites is reduced, but that seems like it might be a challenge because i have 8000 pages on my main site alone... The other sites have hundreds to thousands of pages...

Any suggestions would be helpful. I feel like I have to choose between search engines when really I'd rather not have to give up what I'm already ranked well at.

What's the point in risking it? It shouldnt be too difficult to get links from other sites. You can get decent one ways without major problems if you just put a little time into it. I added 25 one ways to a brand new site over the last 3 months and it was PR5 on the last update.
