How much does Google Value Article Submissions?

Do the Links Count for Much in Google?

It is my job to establish relevant links to numerous sites. Recently I have been looking into the article submission, and perhaps, getting some websites to submit articles to ours. My questions are: How much does google value article submissions? If an article contains a link back to the authors site, does this count as an outgoing link from our site?

Can content relevant articles have any effect, positive or negative, on PR?

From my experience, articles are a great way to build relevant links. But you have to remember several things:

1. Count on an average 30-45 day "turnaround", as pertaining to the back link actually showing.

2. Apart from the big article sites, make sure that you pick topic-specific article submission sites. This will help quite a bit.

3. Don't submit too many articles too fast. Building too many backlinks too fast is as bad these days as not having enough backlinks.

This simple "formula" has worked very well for me.
