Meta Description in search results

I am seeing Meta description directly in search results for any keyword I search. i have checked with various sites and even for that matter to few of our sites. I believe Google is displaying Meta description for ease of what that page content intended for searcher. I also believe search results are not ranked based on meta description.

Yes that what google does . I think that the Meta description does carry a small amount of weight for relevancy .

Yep, google uses the meta description as long as it meets their requirements.

A big thing we consider now with the description is making it more "marketing-esque" as people don't always click on the #1 listing, many scan (quickly) and then click, so we are starting to make our descriptions a bit more enticing to get the click. Just our 2 cents.
