Websites created just 5 months ago achieving first page rankings

I thought it was almost impossible for a brand new website to obtain excellent rankings in just 5 months.

I have noticed a new competitor website and just looked up when the domain was registered. This is a very competitive industry that the website is in as well...I could see a new website in a low traffic industry doing so well so fast - but a new website is a highly competitive industry?

Doesn't this seem very quick to achieve such high results?

Well I saw a site in the sofware which is a very competative industry go to alexa 7500 rankin in a matter of 6 months. The trick is pay some high ranking site to link to your site and you too can achieve the high pr in a few months :)

i started my site on Jan 20, 2006..
about 2 weeks ago i began ranking between #1 and #10 for various keywords relating to a certain social networking/blog site that all the kids use these days (VERY popular).. for the last 2 weeks i've been getting 500-1000 hits per day on this particular page

I've only got about 10-15 IBL's the best from a PR5, the rest from 0's to 2's .

on all my other pages i rank very low or not at all for the rest of my content/keywords..

I don't know why, but i'm not complaining!
