301 internal redirects causing Google problems?

Can I ask a simple question as my site appears to be all over the place regarding many supplementals showing on one index and just a couple on others.

My standard php category pages are showing - some very recently gone live.

However, one thing common to all datacenters is that none of my new (since about mid 2005) product pages are shown in any of the indexes.

My product pages are now all 301 internal redirects - changes page name from
[mysite.com...]
to
[mysite.com...]

So I'm thinking is this:
1. A duplicate issue - is there too much same content on each new product page - if so, google would surely still index the pages but make them supplemental, would it not?
2. A 301 internal redirect issue - does google not like my redirects - if so, why has it indexed many older pages

This issue is also true of my news pages which are also 301 internal redirects.

Should I just wait and see, hold my breath, and don't change anything until google is fixed or what?

I suppose it's good to know I'm not alone but what the **** can we do?

Yahoo and MSN both index all of my pages with no problems - just checked and they have indexed new product pages that are just a few days old.
