Determining if a new page is in Google index

This is probably a very stupid question but I can't remember how to determine if a newly created page is in the Google index. I can look in the logs to see if it has been crawled, but for the life of me I can't remember how to tell if it has been indexed. I don't mind being laughed at for being so stupid but if someone wouldn't mind telling me how to do this I would appreciate it.

site:www.yourdomain.com will list the pages on your site that have been indexed. Alternatively, and assuming that you have not been sandboxed, just do a search for a unique string of text from the page (within quotes).

Thank you for those ideas. But what if you have 2000 or more pages, wouldn't you have to look through the whole list to find the new page. I tried that and soon got very tired of looking.

You could try the text in quotes search that I suggested or just Google the actual URL, e.g.

[yourdomain.com...]

Thank you very much. That last suggestion was the one I was trying to remember.

Sometimes they flit in and out so even if a page is in one day it is gone the next. Eventually it all seems to settle in.

I think you already got your answer, but I thought I would share a bit better how you might be able to search on google. Use the site: and inurl: to narrow down where you are looking, for example I can find a post where someone was helping me in the adsense forum (forum89) and was talking about monte carlo simulations by typing in this specific search at google I come up with the one post I am looking for:

site:webmasterworld.com
inurl:forum89
brianneedshelp
"Monte Carlo"

which looks like this in the address bar
[google.com ]

by narrowing down where you are looking it is usually easier to find what you want. So for your page you could search:

site:www.yourdomain.com inurl:partofpagename
