I have a site that is well ranked in google. If I add a new page, how long should I expect to wait to see it added to the SERPs? I use sitemaps, and will have links to this new page from within my site.
What is the normal time?

Thanks

No specific time at all. A few hours to a month... Sometimes, a link from another website to your new page speeds it up, but by how much I have no idea.

prepare to wait long if your niche is competetive.

What is the normal time?

I'm not too certain there is a normal time, not in the general sense anyway. There are many factors that will determine this with crawl frequency being one of them.

If the site is established, has a good history and PR, expect new pages to be indexed and ranking within 1-2 weeks. The page may not rank immediately for highly competitive phrases, but that will come with a little bit of time. And, that also depends on all of the above. ;)

Funny thing, I had a new website show up and rank top 10 and get PR in 2 months but I have another site that I added a few pages of good, unique and relevant content and it has not showed up in a year.

How long is a piece of string?

If you link to this new page from all your pages it will be faster than if you link to this new page from a single PR1 page.

It's usually within 24 hours these days if you have decent PR and are trying to get the page crawled.
