Google drop 75% of my links :(

Might this be the reason why? Help me if you can.

Well I run a site about messengers programs, and as of 2 days ago my traffic went down drastically, this being going on actually for the last 3 months i think is the big daddy affect, but as of two days ago it just went over board, 75% of my site was drop.

I almost sure this are the reason why I just want to make sure before I make the necessary changes.

since my site is about downloads, in each detail page of each download I also have the link and title some of the description of the last 5 downloads of the particular category. I think this might be problem because this links also appear in the same format in other detail pages. so google might see this as duplicate content, but I dont understand if this is so since each detail page is different because besides the links, it also has the descripion and details of the particular download.

The only thing i think might be the problem is the percentage differentiation of content of the detail page. I mean if the links take lets say 75% of the page content and the details of the particular download takes the other 25%. as you can see the links takes more percentage.

lol well I hope some one understant what my situation is and give me some insight before I go foward and remove the links from each detail page :)

Thanks

Depends on the data center. I am all over the board on each data center for the link command

I wouldn't rush to make any changes just yet. If you were doing fine before, and everything was on the up and up, then don't change anything. Give it a bit more time while Google sorts things out with the latest issues before making any changes.

Also keep in mind that when it comes to links and Google, the link: command is of little value in determining volume of IBLs. Google only shows a small percentage of your inbound links.

Why don't you try putting the last downloads feature in a iframe? That takes them out of each page's url and gives them their own unique url. You won't need to drop the feature for your users that way, and you also won't have massive dupe content.

I see, I was about to take them out but I am going to wait a week, to see if everything goes back to normal i hope :)

If not I just going to make the links smaller by removing their description and just putting the link title,

the iframes, I never like them but that's a good idea because my users love the feature and I really dont want to take it off.

Thanks guys

Me neither, but there are times, like this, where they come in handy. All kinds of frames have their uses. It's just that 98% of the time, they are not needed and are actually making trouble.

I was thinking about using the iframes but then I opted to use only the links to the newest downloads, without the description in then, if duplicate content was the problem I hope I can get back the lost pages.

I hope then if not I would loose a lot of hard work :(
