Rumors tell that the new algorithms Google are testing are going to reward short and precise URLs even more.

Not sure about that. Depends on how realiable your source is! Would be nice though for the domains I have!

Probably someone misinterpreting what Matt Cutts wrote about google preferring to list the shortest URL to get to a given page.

ever seen those Cnet and blogger (including Matt's own) URLs? You can fit a novel in there...
