As far as I know, they recalculate it for themselves continuosly.

However what they show is the average over several months and is updated once in two to three months.

Yep...the google toolbar seems to be a little lazy for some time now - 3 month updates are stretched to 4 +, that's a little less fun.

Too bad, it's Google's nicest useless toy - Still its value has become close to meaningless.

I wouldnt be surprized if they kept the TB update time longer and longer until they remove the PageRank cell completely.

It was the silliest idea of Google nonetheless.

If they do so I strongly believe that they would loose lots of customers.

Google guys are not the geeks most people think they are (at least not only), the public relations and marketing department is as creative and resourcefull as their R&D.
They would not let the PR go soon.

Two of my sites have been alternating from PR3 (usually in the evening hours up to about 11am) and then back to PR0 between around 11am and later in the evening.

Usually pr-checker sites show PR3 for most of the day, but there is a small time-fram when even those sites show PR0 for my site.

I'm confused...does this mean my sites are going to be PR3 on the next update? Or does this mean there is a glitch in the system. One of my sites (index page is PR4) has a links page with absolutely no content inside because I've not yet added links, but it's showing up as a PR3 lately during the same time intervals as my other sites.

I wish they had a more "set in stone" system. It's hard to value PR if I can't even really tell what the PR of my site truly is.

I don't think they should get rid of it...I think they need to make it better.
